About Our Name

Iaspidos is the Greek word for jasper, the gem. You will find in Revelation 21:10, 11, and 19 how the gem jasper is an important part of the new city. It is one of the chief foundation stones. We want to show hope now and beyond this life. Our purpose is to encourage and to show the love of Jesus.

Who We Are

The mission of Iaspidos is to offer encouragement and support through the books and articles written by Mary and Ted Spreiter. Together Mary and Ted have years of experience as Christians, parents, caretakers for the sick and elderly, teachers, rehabilitation counselors, and social workers.

Mary has published two books: A Greek Study Guide to the text New Testament Greek for Beginners by J. Gresham Machen and Comfort for the Caregiver. Mary has a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Tulsa. She also attended the early seminary at Oral Roberts University and taught New Testament Greek for five years at Oral Roberts University undergraduate school. Mary has teaching experience at other educational institutions also.Ted has written many articles, and he is currently working on a book of encouragement for the Christian. Ted has a B.A. from St. Olaf College and a M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania. He also attended the seminaries at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Oral Roberts University. Together they have raised six children who have given them many grandchildren.

We especially want to emphasize Comfort for the Caregiver as it seems caregivers for the sick and elderly are not given the credit, hope, and encouragement they deserve. Almost every family will have a caregiver need, and the demands on the caregiver can be almost beyond human endurance. It is only the Lord who can make this task possible.
