A Greek Study Guide to the text New Testament Greek for Beginners by J. Gresham Machen
by Mary Spreiter
This study guide was written as my Master's thesis in the early 1970s. It was submitted and accepted to complete a
Master's degree and has been in the library of the University of Tulsa since that time. By the time the study guide
was finished, I had taught New Testament Greek at Oral Roberts University for about 5 years. I decided to end my
full-time teaching career at that time due to the arrival of our fifth child. I later taught Greek for Oklahoma
City Southwestern College at Tulsa, and one year I taught for Rhema Bible Training Center. Since those engagements
I have taught Greek, but not for academic institutions.
The advent of the web has provided a new opportunity to share with others the Greek Study Guide. It is now available
on CD and in hard copy as well. We have attempted to keep the cost of the CD very reasonable. Cost of the hard copy
is greater due to the bulk and cost of printing.
To introduce you to the Study Guide the
Introduction, Lesson I,
and Lesson X are provided here free for
download. We also will provide help via email for questions concerning the Study Guide and other questions regarding
New Testament Greek. If you have questions please feel free to contact me at the email address listed on the Contact
Us page. My desire is that all will have opportunity to share in the riches of the New Testament in its original language.

What Others Are Saying
I am happy to commend this new Greek study guide which has been prepared by Mrs. Mary Spreiter, one of my former students. I
am happy for improved approaches to enable students to master more easily the original language of the New Testament, the most
important book of all. I trust that this study will lead many people into the riches of the Greek New Testament.

Mary Spreiter was my New Testament Greek teacher in the early 1970’s. I had begun many Greek classes before and the attrition
rate was so high, the teacher would always give up. I would have to look for another instructor. I was proud of Mary. She not
only stuck with the few students who finished her first year, she even stuck with me for a second year and I was her only student.
We sat at a table across from each other as we studied the book of John from the Greek. You will not only be instructed from her
knowledge of New Testament Greek, you will be blessed with an increased understanding of the word of God.
